Probably the ONLY general cleaner you'll ever need! Sep 15, 2009

I have tried so many eco-green cleaners and really have only liked Mrs. Meyers, Ecover and (gasp) Clorox Green products. This product claims to clean anything from false teeth to diesel engines and it's probably true! As for its scent and harshness, the scent is a very light, quickly dissipating fragrance which reminds me of Fantastic. As for harshness, I did not wear gloves but probably should have ONLY because some of the greasy stuff went under a couple of fingernails. After normal washing and rinsing of my hands, I did not notice any dryness or irritation. I haven't tried this product on windows, so I can't comment on that, but this spray is EXCELLENT for cleaning an outdoor grill, indoor oven and baked on foodstuff inside my stainless convection microwave oven. On my misnomer self-cleaning oven, I sprayed, waited, wiped and sprayed again until it was like brand new w/ minimal use of elbow grease. AMAZING. I will be giving Simple Green and several other heavy duty cleaners away to neighbors as this IS definitely the ONLY general spray cleaner I will need to use. I have already ordered and received the additional gallon container of this product and one gallon of their liquid laundry soap. It is so refreshing to find a product that is environmentally safe, made in USA (NC), and actually cleans as claimed. I hope they expand their product line in the future.

AMAZING cleaner! Sep 17, 2009
By Karen L. We had some tile installed and the installers used some strong adhesive duct tape to cover it with paper afterwords to avoid construction damage. The tape left a horrible residue behind. They made a special effort to clean it, without much effect. I tried with various cleaners, Goo Be Gone (no effect), even the steam cleaner. Only the steam cleaner worked , but I had to scrub HARD and it was VERY VERY slow working. I actually needed a new brush attachment after doing about 10 linear feet, and that took probably 20-30 minutes.
I ordered the complete cleaning kit from Charlie's soap because I wanted to try the detergent. I didn't know what I would do with the large 2 gallon all purpose cleaner plus the spray bottle I got of the stuff. On a whim, I sprayed it on the tape adhesive on my floors (which has now been there an embarrassingly amount of time - about a year). After letting it sit for about 2 minutes, I literally WIPED UP the residue. it was absolutely NUTS!
The smell is almost non-existent.
I am a very happy customer and can't wait to find more things to use it on!

Have been using Charlie's Soap Detergent for years for my massage therapy linens with GREAT success.
Recently tried Charlie's All-Purpose Cleaner which removed set-in stains in carpets at work as well as both set in stains in carpet & pet stains! Thrilled with the results and versatility of the cleaner!

Good, not great..and talk about a chemical smell! Mar 15, 2010

I love Charlie's Laundry Soap, and wanted to give their AP Cleaner a try. I purposely waited to clean my shower until I received my little bottle. I do agree that it cleans well, but it has a horrible chemical smell. It's not even a "clean" smell, but more of a harsh scent you would expect to find from Kaboom, or another product. It does take soap scum off very easily, but because of the harsh smell, and the fact that my tongue felt stripped of all it's taste's buds due to the fumes...and me breathing them in. I think I'll stick to Comet with bleach. I will stick to Charlie's Laundry Soap though...that stuff is awesome!

Not as advertised. Mar 21, 2011
By Forest7 We bought Charlie's Soap All-Purpose Cleaner based on these reviews, and found it to clean as people said. However, we noticed that things stayed clean a long time. In biological terms that meant newly arriving life forms found it not able to sustain life.
We thought, if this were a product used in a garden, and nothing, wanted or unwanted, was able to grow for a month, was that desirable, and what was causing it.
We looked up the ingredients, and although the website advertises all the natural, organic ingredients, as do other sellers of the product, the .pdf sheet, available for download contains this information.
COCONUT OIL STRAIGHT-CHAIN ETHOXYLATE; 2-BUTOXYETHANOL
Footnote at bottom of the same pdf sheet.
* At 4%, Charlie's Soap All-Purpose Cleaner does not possess the occupational health risk associated with exposure to undiluted
2-butoxyethanol. Charlie's Soap All-Purpose Cleaner contains no known EPA
priority pollutants, heavy metals, or chemicals listed under RCRA, CERCLA,
or CWA. None of the ingredients in Charlie's Soap All-Purpose Cleaner are
regulated or listed as potential cancer agents by Federal OSHA, NTP, or IARC.
So, we looked up 2-butoxyethanol on the web to determine how organically healthy it is. What we found seems quite different from the claims. It is not organic or safe when this chemical is the main ingredient.
