5WOW! A GREAT LAUNDRY SOAP THAT IS ALSO GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!!!!  Sep 16, 2008
By M. Burgess
I purchased this Laundry Soap because I was looking for a Really Great Soap that was also environmentally friendly! About the same time we purchased the LG Tromm front loading washer and dryer set! Which by the way, I LOVE!!...I went from using 50 gallons of water per load to about 15-16 gallons of water per load! This soap works very well with the front loaders, but you can use this soap with either a top or front loading machines. I was amazed at how clean my husbands work clothes came out. He was even impressed! And I didn't use any bleach or anything else with it. Also, everything comes out softer than they did when I used my other soaps. It's very low suds, you don't need to use alot, and You can purchase this in powder or liquid form, I use the liquid soap, but I think next time I'll purchase this soap from the actual Charlies Soap Company, because I found that when you order through them, if your order is at least $20.00, shipping is free, plus if you order two or more items you get further discounts, so it is much cheaper purchasing it from Charlies directly. I just googled Charlies Soap and it pulled their website right up. Bottom Line....I highly recommend this soap in either liquid or powder form whether you have a top loader or a front loading machine, but especially if you have a front loading machine, a Highly Powerful Combination! I just wished I'd done this much sooner! Try it, you'll Never go back!

4Great Stuff!  Jun 24, 2008
By Rachel Blackburn
I was skeptical when I first tried Charlie's Soap laundry liquid - it seemed to promise way too many great things. What I have found is that it is my favorite biodegradable laundry liquid - I like the fact that I am not using a petroleum-based product. I have tried both Seventh Generation and Method and found Charlie's Laundry Liquid to be the best biodegradable soap at getting stains out. I do have some trouble with getting stains out when washing with cold water, but warm or hot water helps. This stuff has even gotten cat urine out of a duvet - can't smell a thing!

The first 2-3 times you use this, be aware that you will have tons of suds in your machine as it gets the residue from your previous detergent out - these will diminish greatly over time. The laundry liquid can be used in either HE or regular washers - no need for a different soap. It is cost effective as you have to use a miniscule amount of soap for each load, so it lasts a long time. When the clothes are wet they do have a scent, but once dry there is almost no scent. We tried doing laundry with just the laundry liquid as so many people advertise that they don't need fabric softener, but we found that the clothes were softer and pet hair was more easily removed by using a dryer sheet. Granted, clothes washed with just Charlie's Laundry Liquid were much softer than clothes washed with a regular detergent such as Tide or All. In short, great product doing great things for the environment (with a great marketing campaign - have to appreciate marketing with a sense of humor). If you have questions about their other products go to the website - [...]

5Natural, Earth-Friendly, cheaper, and better than Tide, Wisk, or any other brand!  Jun 09, 2008
By JoJo Diamond "JoJo"
I ordered Charlie's Soap reluctantly, but because I needed it for my son's cloth diapers. I now use it for all my laundry because my clothes and towels come out clean and soft with no residue, and I don't have to use fabric softener so my towels are more absorbent. A gallon lasts forever since you only need to use two tablespoons per load of laundry.

3Decent cleaning power, natural, but I found a better alternative  Jan 13, 2010
By Timothy Lam "trustedsince1996"
Here are my experiences after using the Charles' Soap exclusively on 100+ loads after 3 months. I ran a large empty load with double the usual amount of Charlie's Soap (2oz) and washed several old towels to clear my HE front-loading Maytag washing machine of any residue left behind by other detergents (previouly used ECOS Free & Clear for almost a year) as suggested before using it to wash my clothes. It does clean better than ECOS and the Seventh Generation detergent I used before this. However, I still notice it doesn't wash off some simple oil/clear grease stain on my table cloth, children clothes, etc. I have no suds problem and my family doesn't have allergic reaction with any of the above products. However, because it doesn't clean as well as I would like (comparing with less natural/environmental-friendly product like Tide). My house also has a water softener system, so it should work even better and I also tried to use more than the 1oz amount recommended for HE and it still doesn't work well in cleaning my cloth. This prompted me to search for and I think I might have found a better cleaning product - Planet 2x HE Ultra Laundry Liquid Detergent, 32-Loads, 50-Ounces Bottle (Pack of 4). It costs about 50% more per load, however, so far, after using Planet's detergent on 10 loads of laundry, I can see some of the really old stains (food stain on place mats) slowly disappear! Clothes coming out of the washer feeling cleaner (no suds) and softer than ever before. I am a believer now and I believe the higher cost is well justified for the better result.

2Disappointed in its claims  Apr 25, 2011
By S. Beach
I have used both liquid and powder versions of Charlie's Laundry soap, originally because I was intrigued and impressed with the claims on the packaging to thoroughly clean so many varieties of tough stains, including blood and grass stains. I'm sorry to say that has not been my experience. I can't even get it to remove simple ring-around-the-collar without pre-treating with something like "Shout," and when I do pre-treat, I know it's the other product that's working instead of the Charlie's Soap. It hasn't done a thing for blood and oil stains. I've been using it with liquid Oxy-Clean, with no better results. There is white residue left on my clothes much of the time, too. I contacted the company and was given a suggestion to try a new Charlie's Laundry Booster product that has apparently just come out (and I can't find it anywhere). I questioned why I should have to add something -- ANYTHING -- to a product that claims to do it all on its own. If I'm going to have to buy a couple of expensive Charlie's products to accomplish what one of them claims to do by itself, I'm going to try something else, like Seventh Generation.
