5Great Buy  Feb 08, 2008
By Jeremie Brown
We found a the sister mattress to this one in a store. It had a blue cover and no vent holes...usually for hospitals. We happened to check on-line and found this one. I called the manufacturer and they said that the white covered one was the SAME mattress, but intended for residential (and a little cheaper, but only due to the cover). The cover gets washed almost daily in a hospital and has to be able to hold up to that.

Ok, why this one over other foams? We liked the density, weight, price and vent holes.

Density--It has a high density (very firm) side for newborns and a lower density (little more give...softer) for toddlers. SIDS is a BIG concern these days and a BIG thing we parents can do is put newborns on a FIRM mattress.

Weight--Changing sheets in a crib is necessary to remove the mattress to do so. This is very lightweight and easy to remove. The snug fit in the crib is very necessary so your little one doesn't get a leg/arm caught down beside the mattress.

Price--Compared to an interspring or other foam mattresses, Amazon had the best price on these mattresses. There are only a few select stores that sell them. Also, I called the manufacturer. It is a small Grandfather/father/son business. This is ALL they do and they do it well and VERY resonably priced. You can't get a mattress from them for an adult...they specialize in babys and kids.

Vent Holes--Since I mentioned it I'll expand a bit. Vent holes allow the mattress to breathe (like when they jump on it). Our daughter (almost 2) is starting to jump in the crib when she wakes up and sees us. It's cute and I'm really glad we have those vents.

We are VERY pleased with this mattress AND with Amazon's price for it. I couldn't get it from the manufacturer, BUT I did talk with one of the sons when I called them! This is a VERY good sign of a VERY good business and a quality product.

VERY VERY Happy parents...VERY happy daughter...VERY happy household.

Sorry this was so long, hopefully it was helpful.

5Best Mattress for Baby  Feb 18, 2010
By Michael Phillips
My wife shopped around for weeks at retail stores trying to find the best mattress for our son that is set to arrive at the end of March. She reviewed all the websites and found that the Colgate mattress offers the best of all worlds having two different sides for firmness that are best for baby... along with having the highest ratings from all of the consumer and safety organazations.

We finally decided on the Colgate Classica III Dual-Zone due to the reviews and quality that Colgate is known for. We got the mattress and found that it is THE BEST. Quality is excellent and is made in the USA and customer service is second to none.

Fit and finish are superb. Excellent product, would highly recommend to anyone! Thanks.

5Excellent Quality  Oct 24, 2009
By C. Keyser
This mattress is lightweight, durable, and waterproof. My daughter sleeps 12 plus hours a night on this mattress, and after nearly 2 years of use it still looks brand new! I will be buying another one for my next child.

3Great mattress, but check the details  Nov 19, 2009
By Anonymous
We just received this mattress yesterday, and wanted to have it ready to go into the crib straight away. The firmness and the padding were exactly as described here, which was perfect. What wasn't perfect was the binding around the edges. On 2 sides, the binding was poorly sewn, causing the cloth to come apart, threads to come loose, and frayed edges.

We're exchanging this for another of the same mattress, which will hopefully be better. It IS a good mattress, but the company needs to pay attention to its quality control. This can't be an issue anymore for an American manufacturer of any product these days.

5Wonderful! No spaces!  Oct 07, 2010
By Michele L. Ramsel "mlnramsel"
I was excited when I put the mattress in my crib (which takes a standard sized mattress) and had to push on it a little to get it down all the way- NO SPACES in the sides or corners! It is also vented in the sides which gave me more peace of mind when thinking of how hot foam can get and the issues some foam mattresses can have with bacteria and such- that shouldn't be a problem with this mattress as it has a waterproof cover and is vented. The mattress is also extremely light, I handled it in the box easily at 6 months pregnant. I bought it because it was the top baby bargains recommendation, and am extremely glad I spent the extra money on a great mattress!
