1CHANGED FORMULA  Jan 21, 2012
By H. Moore
I USED to love California Baby. But now they have changed their formula to include Sodium Benzoate.

From Natural News:

"Derived from a reaction of benzoic acid with sodium hydroxide, sodium benzoate is actually the sodium salt of benzoic acid. Sodium benzoate is a known carcinogenic additive which, when eaten or applied to the skin, gets transported to the liver, where it is supposed to be filtered, and expelled in urine, but the damage gets done before that process is completed.

Sodium benzoate chokes out your body's nutrients at the DNA cellular level by depriving mitochondria cells of oxygen, sometimes completely shutting them down. Just as humans need oxygen to breathe, cells need oxygen to function properly and to fight off infection, including cancer."

Even outside of that article there is great concern about the ingredient and cancer links. I will be returning my product and no longer purchasing from California Baby.

1Reformulated with a new label  Jan 24, 2012
By jenna
Please be aware that CA Baby has reformulated numerous items in it's product line. Many soaps now contain sodium benzoate.

The new products have a different, updated label.

CA Baby has received numerous complaints on their facebook page, and have deleted them all!

Shame on California Baby.

I will no longer buy their products.

The old formula features the label show on this page.

1They reformulated this product with cheap and toxic ingredients - now rash and bumps!,  Jan 27, 2012
By julie B "Julie B"
I am very unhappy with this product and even more so with the California Baby company. So I am editing my review. Last year, I gave this product 5 stars. The whole family used this Super Sensitive wash since my daughter was a baby and we gave it as gifts as well. I was so impressed with how gentle it was and now SURPRISE!!! Without telling their customers, they have reformulated and added Sodium Benzoate and who knows what else. - the company was not upfront about this nor were they about other ingredients in their products. I have just learned this recently. California Baby isn't cheap either, but we were buying a lot of it because we thought it was an excellent product. In the last 4 months, my daughter has developed little dry patches and tiny bumps all over her skin and I never guessed it was the wash. She's had this for months and she's been so itchy. I just put this together last night after seeing an article from a reliable source. I had been throwing away everything else because it never occurred to me that it would be this tried and true sensitive wash. SO now I am tossing ALL the California Baby products; shame and I loved their sunscreen too. Also, even though they added these new cheap ingredients I noticed they didn't lower the cost. Many of us paying for a premium low toxicity product for our families and they did the old switcheroo on us..... very deceptive and dishonest. Also, I don't ever remember CB doing any promotional sales for their customers. Customers don't come first with them. So I will find a new company, that's easy. Dolphin Organics is one that I heard good things about and so is Earth Mama Angel Baby. These two I plan to try soon.

1New Formula Causes Dry Itchy Skin  Jan 24, 2012
By glamourmom
I used to love CB- until they reformulated their products using cheap, irritating ingredients and unnatural preservatives. My kids both have dry, rough patches after using this new formulation. There are other great alternatives for less money.

1Ingredients incorrectly listed, NOT ALLERGY FREE  Aug 17, 2011
By A.J.
The shampoo's and conditioners all contain corn derivatives. This is not listed on Amazon or even the companies website. They refer you to this site to check ingredients. [...]
This also leaves out the corn product, which is printed very clearly on the back of every sample I purchased. I about scratched my scalp off after the first try. I was totally confused, as to why this would be, until I checked the back of the bottle. I would have never have purchased this had I Known it contained corn which is one my worst allergies. While this is a great product for many many people, I give it 1 star due to lack of correct ingredient listings and the claim to be "allergy free". It is not.
