CHANGED FORMULA Jan 21, 2012
By H. Moore I USED to love California Baby. But now they have changed their formula to include Sodium Benzoate.
From Natural News:
"Derived from a reaction of benzoic acid with sodium hydroxide, sodium benzoate is actually the sodium salt of benzoic acid. Sodium benzoate is a known carcinogenic additive which, when eaten or applied to the skin, gets transported to the liver, where it is supposed to be filtered, and expelled in urine, but the damage gets done before that process is completed.
Sodium benzoate chokes out your body's nutrients at the DNA cellular level by depriving mitochondria cells of oxygen, sometimes completely shutting them down. Just as humans need oxygen to breathe, cells need oxygen to function properly and to fight off infection, including cancer."

Even outside of that article there is great concern about the ingredient and cancer links. I will be returning my product and no longer purchasing from California Baby.

Ingredients incorrectly listed, NOT ALLERGY FREE Aug 17, 2011
By A.J. The shampoo's and conditioners all contain corn derivatives. This is not listed on Amazon or even the companies website. They refer you to this site to check ingredients. [...]
This also leaves out the corn product, which is printed very clearly on the back of every sample I purchased. I about scratched my scalp off after the first try. I was totally confused, as to why this would be, until I checked the back of the bottle. I would have never have purchased this had I Known it contained corn which is one my worst allergies. While this is a great product for many many people, I give it 1 star due to lack of correct ingredient listings and the claim to be "allergy free". It is not.

Highly Recommend this Product Jul 01, 2008

"healthy baby"
I do not usually take the time to write reviews but I love this product. I have spent a lot of time researching baby products because so many out there have very bad for you chemicals in them. I hate to think that we are subjecting our babies to cancer causing chemicals when there are safe alternatives out there. This product ranked well on the EWGs website and so we tried it. I think I bought it at Target. I was a little worried because it is hard to find safe products that actually work as well as the more common ones but I read a couple of good reviews on this one. We highly recommend this soap. I did read one review from someone that said that they gave their child a bath every other day and on the in between day the childs hair looked greasy. We have not had this problem as long as we were careful to make sure that it all rinsed out. We have been very busy moving lately and my daughter has even gone three days a couple of times between baths and her hair still looks clean. I highly recommend this soap/bodywash.

Sudsy Feb 24, 2011

Very nice. I owned the California Baby Shampoo & Body Wash Calming - 17.5 OZ. - Liquid and after awhile I got tired of the lavender smell and it didn't foam up enough for me after my daughter was no longer a newborn and was in need of a good scrub. So I used just a little of this and it was nice and sudsy, no scent and it got her clean. Her little curls fluffed up and her toes smelled clean. She's nine months old as I write this. Don't get me wrong the other stuff is great which is why I stayed with California Baby. I do recommend it as well but I did like the suds and the scent free. Oh and a little goes a long way. Should last you six months bathing every other day.

Reformulated with a new label Jan 24, 2012
By jenna Please be aware that CA Baby has reformulated numerous items in it's product line. Many soaps now contain sodium benzoate.
The new products have a different, updated label.
CA Baby has received numerous complaints on their facebook page, and have deleted them all!
Shame on California Baby.
I will no longer buy their products.
The old formula features the label show on this page.
