A safe sippy! Dec 23, 2009
By Lauren Kawaguchi This is the newer generation of this Safe Sippy and it seems ok to me! A lot of reviews for the earlier version of this cup said they leaked, but I haven't had that issue (yet). That being said, I don't know how kid-friendly this cup is. My daughter is only 8 months and can understand the concept of a cup, but this one eludes her. I'm holding out hope that she will figure out the straw-like opening this sippy sports, which is supposed to be the best kind for developing jaws and such. The cup comes with three adapters- one for a straw for older kids, one for a regular valve for younger kids (leaks a bit, but just what is left in the straw portion of the mouthpiece- not a continuous stream of fluid), and a stopper for travel. Supposedly everything is BPA-free. There is also a removable cover and handles, and the silicone sleeve comes off if you want to wash either the bottle or cover. All in all, good quality, but maybe for slightly older kids who know what straws are about.

Use for water only Feb 20, 2012
By OFG This cup is easy to clean, looks great and is easy for my toddler to hold. Also, the spout is hard which is difficult to find with other straw cups, and my toddler can't chew on it or pretend to take sips when she actually is biting off the soft straw, like she does with other cups. However, it should be used for water only since it leaks. It has a separate valve for transporting it in the diaper bag, which is inconvenient when you're out and about and have to open the cup to change valves in order to allow your child to drink from the cup or to put it back in the bag. If you leave the regular valve in and have a liquid other than water in the cup, when the temperature of the liquid changes (for instance, the milk is not fridge-temp anymore- even within 5 minutes of being out of the fridge) the liquid starts spontaneously coming out from the top of the straw leaving a huge mess (this is only prevented if you unscrew the top to relieve the pressure associated with expanding/warming liquid). Though this is a problem with many straw cups, it is certainly disappointing.

Great straw sippy Apr 23, 2011
By Daisy I am so thrilled with this cup! I bought it when my son was six months old and we were starting sippy cups. I liked that it was stainless steel, with handles and an insulating cover and was excited that it came with several different valves (for different flow speeds) and a straw. At first he wouldn't use it because of the hard plastic top and the large size made it a little heavy when filled with liquid. I put it up and reintroduced it when he was 15 months - and he loved it! He really prefers straws to "sipping" so I use the straw in conjunction with the light orange (open) valve and that's been perfect for him.
I've never had a problem getting the pieces together and the top on securely. You don't have to have it screwed into a "marked" positon like some sippies that have to be aligned to be leak proof. It only leaks when he bangs it upside down, and even then it's more of a slow drip. He has tossed it on the floor, hurled it onto concrete sidewalks, and even thrown it across the room with barely a scratch to show for it. This has been our everyday, everywhere go-to cup for the past three months and is still in perfect condition. I'm buying three more Safe Sippy's today, and I imagine they will still be in his hands when he's old enough for the soccer field!
