Whew! This has a heavy chemical odor! May 19, 2010 I ordered Charlie's All Purpose Spray because I wanted a "safe" product that would clean the soap scum in my shower. I don't know about the safety aspect of it, but it has a bad chemical odor that is heavy enough that I had to open the bathroom windows after using it. It's not a pleasant smell, like a perfume, but a fairly strong chemical smell that gave me a headache after a while. The advertising says that you could use it to clean your dog. Not my dogs! I can't imagine getting near an animal with this product that has a strong sense of smell!
It sprayed the product in my shower stall and waited about a half hour. It required scrubbing to to remove mold on the grouting and soap scum from the shower door but did a good job after scrubbing. I sprayed it on another shower in the house and waited 10 minutes. The results were the same. I would say it worked a little better than a vinegar and water solution and not quite as well as a product like Kaboom Shower, Tub & Tile Cleaner 32 fl oz (946 ml). Kaboom has a slightly less offensive odor and does a much better job on mold with less scrubbing. Charlie's did a better job on the soap scum. But the price is a lot higher than Kaboom.
I tried it on floor tile and on a couple spots on the woodwork and it did a good job removing that. I tried it diluted on a mirror but it left a film that required another glass cleaner to remove. I wanted to use it on my oven, but the smell is much too strong for the kitchen. I'm disappointed.

Great cleaner--and NO chemical odor! May 02, 2010 I have purchased two containers of Charlie's Soap all-purpose cleaner, the 16.9 oz. spray bottle, and a gallon jug of it, purchased at different times. One was shipped from Boppity-something, and I don't recall the other shipper, but both were through amazon. The product is also available directly from the manufacturer at [...].
This is the best all-around cleaner that I have ever used! It works great on my range hood, sink, and the other general cleaning tasks I've used it on. I've also used it as a laundry pre-treater. It can be used full strength or in various dilutions. But the thing that sold me was that it quicky cleaned up dried transmission grease mixed with 15 years' worth of dirt and gunk under my old washing machine. I thought I'd never be able to clean the mess up in the time the installers of the new machine would allow me, but the Charlie's cleaned it up perfectly. It did take several pails of clean water changes, but it worked great. If it cleaned up this thick, dried mess of grease, I knew it was fantastic!
It's a great cleaner that is non-toxic, plant-based, and biodegradeable. It is not technically a disinfectant, though. It just cleans very very well.
I also want to comment on several reviews that complain of a very strong, over-powering chemical odor. The product that I received has NO chemical odor. The full strength product has only a very slight soapy smell that's not unpleasant. Doesn't even sound like the same product that I and most other reviewers received! See foodie "ayh"'s review dated Dec. 25, 2009, for their interesting theory of what may be happening. Something is wrong somewhere, anyway.
Charlie's Soap has a money-back guarantee, so if you received the stinky product, it would be worth a try to get a refund from the shipper or from amazon, and then contact the manufacturer through their website if necessary. What I have is a great product with no strong odor of any kind. Can't all be the same stuff.
Their laundry powder is awesome, too, and is the reason I tried their all-purpose cleaner. Great company!

Not that good. Mar 15, 2010 I expected more from this. It smells and works as poorly as the stuff I buy from the dollar store for a lot less money. I'll stick with my Orange TKO. It smells wonderfully and it actually works! I use it as a pre-treater on my hubby's greasy clothes and any new stains will come out the first time. This stuff left stuff in my clothes and now it's set in and I can't even get Orange TKO to take it out. Bummer! I can't wear my favorite shirt anymore.

Good, not great..and talk about a chemical smell! Mar 15, 2010 I love Charlie's Laundry Soap, and wanted to give their AP Cleaner a try. I purposely waited to clean my shower until I received my little bottle. I do agree that it cleans well, but it has a horrible chemical smell. It's not even a "clean" smell, but more of a harsh scent you would expect to find from Kaboom, or another product. It does take soap scum off very easily, but because of the harsh smell, and the fact that my tongue felt stripped of all it's taste's buds due to the fumes...and me breathing them in. I think I'll stick to Comet with bleach. I will stick to Charlie's Laundry Soap though...that stuff is awesome!

Not all purpose Feb 03, 2010 I was very hopeful that this product would be all purpose. It's not. I tried it on fresh coffee spilled on the carpet and it did not clean it at all. I spilled spaghetti sauce on a white Tshirt, rinsed it and sprayed the cleaner on the stain, washed the shirt twice and the stain remains. Would not recommended it
