Citizen Promaster Diver Watch AJ0100-02E Jan 05, 2006
By bj I love the look of this watch! I have enjoyed it for almost two weeks now and it has kept perfect time to date.
Originally I was attracted to the Seiko SKX173 which I came across first. However I was concerned that the physical size of the Seiko might be too large for my wrist plus reviews indicated its automatic/mechanical movement might not be as accurate as I wanted.
Later I found this Citizen watch which looks virtually identical, yet it is smaller (diameter 38mm vs 43, height 10.5mm vs 13.5), and has a more accurate battery-driven quartz movement.
It also has a longer warranty (5 years vs 3) which probably indicates that the movement is more likely to be trouble-free than the self-winding Seiko.
The only negative I have encountered is that it (as well as the Seiko) come with a fairly bulky rubber strap. While this is more comfortable than I expected, it does tend to interfere somewhat with the drape of the cuff when wearing a long sleeve shirt.

Fine watch for the money Jan 09, 2007
By Steve I have owned this watch for almost 4 years now with absolutely no complaints. After going through several cheaper watches to wear at work and on a casual basis I decided to spend a few extra bucks to see if I could get more wear out of one and I am sold on this one. I work in a facility that deals with chemicals that are hard on watches and I also work with mechanical equipment that is hard on crystals and this watch has held up in my working environment quite well. Because I am not a diver, I am not sure that this is a good diving watch but I do fish and play in the Atlantic and this watch has held up through use in the sand and salt with very little care given to it. I am still on my first band and battery and the watch still keeps accurate time. The band is starting to crack a bit but, after what I've put this watch through, I am surprised it has held up this long. The crystal is a tad bit scratched but the other watches that I have had would have blown apart or would at least be cloudy from the blows that it's taken.

New watch Feb 12, 2008
By Darryl L. Heasley

I am now buying my second Citizen AJ0100-02E dive watch, but only because my first one was stolen. I purchased the first watch about 6 years ago while on a cruise. I used this watch for diving and everyday use for three years before I replaced it with and Eco-Drive for everyday use. I still used this one for diving, numerous times to 120 feet. The watch ran great and was accurate. The only negative was the band, which I immediately replaced with a fabric divers band.
About 18 months ago I put my dive gear away, and did not use it. As I was getting it out for another dive trip I found the watch. It had gained only 3 minutes in 18 months. Not bad for this price of watch. I started using it everyday to make sure it was working. Unfortunately I left it with my gym bag and somebody stole it. It worked so well that I am replacing it with the same watch!

Smalller & lighter than I thought Dec 20, 2006
By Ron S. Very nice watch but... it's much smaller & lighter than I thought it would be.
I had read that it was smaller than the Seiko Divers, this was a plus since the Seiko's are too large for me. However... this watch could stand to be just a tad bigger.
More pluses...
The dial markers glows with a blue tint, instead of the green of most watches.
The rubber band is quite comfortable & secure using 2 "hold downs" for the excess length that goes thru the buckle.
Downside...
The Citizen logo is imprinted on the band. This is a bit much in IMO, but I'm sure that it will eventually wear off.
Overall a very nice watch... just not a big diver's watch as one might expect.

20-Years and Still Ticking Apr 28, 2006

This same model watch was purchased for me 20-years ago for my 10th birthday and it still keeps 100% accurate time. The rubberized band tends to were out after about 2-3 years of everyday use. I would suggest replacing it with a stainless-steel metal band, which can be purchased at any major retailer. The metal band also adds to the attractiveness of the watch....at least in my opinion. Overall, a fantastic product !
