4Great, for "environmentally friendly" standards  Apr 27, 2010
By E. polus "e.p."
Clearly not as effective as the Jet-Dry I used to buy, but for not having the usual terribly inflated eco-prices, I'll live.

Jet-Dry: Open the washer not too long after the cycle finishes and, after the initial rush of steam and hot air escapes, even the walls of the (stainless steel) washer are quite dry (not to mention the dishes).

Ecover: Open the washer not too long after the cycle finishes and expect the walls to still have a good amount of condensed steam. May even encounter a fair amount of dripping. However, for the most part, only a few of the items (notably the plastics and other dishes that do not warm up like glass or stainless steel)need to be placed on my usual drying dishcloth. Also, the amount of liquid I need is noticeably greater. Not only am I refilling the dispenser more often, but I've set the dispenser setting higher to get the mentioned effect (even with the higher setting, overall I'm using more liquid). With Jet-Dry you're supposed to get about 10 loads for every ounce, but with Ecover I've gone through half a 16 Oz bottle in no more than 50 (so ~6 loads for every ounce). To be expected when you're rinsing with lemon acids as opposed to real chemicals...

5Ecover and Amazon are a win-win solution  Oct 20, 2008
By Sincerely Yours
Eco friendly and chemically-friendly for my family (no longer worried about what chemicals remain on my dishes, even if I can't see it). ooh, it works very well and no residual and no smell. I also use the ecover dishwasher tablets and I can's be happier. We moved over to these environmentally friendly products over three years ago; and thank you to Amazon for making it so easy to buy these products. Although there are many health food stores who stock these products where I live, but some times they run out of stock and are more expensive. I just love the ecover products for the dishwasher, expecially when I am going to eat off the plate!

2My dishes won't dry!  Mar 03, 2009
By L. Frazer
I tried using the ecover rinse aid, in combination with the ecover dish tablet, for several months now. While at first I was extremely pleased, over time I realized the rinse aid just does not work very well. Consistently my dishes are still wet hours after the washer has completed it's cycle, and unfortunately it was becoming more common to find small white spots on the dishes. My husband refilled the rinse aid with jet dry when I wasn't home, and I'm sorry to say that since he made the switch (and still while using the ecover dish tablets), our dishes come out dry, and without any spots.
I absolutely adore the ecover dish tablets, but I'm so sad to say the rinse aid just doesn't do the job most people expect it to.

5Great product!  Nov 22, 2008
By K. Jackson
This works really well, leaving dishes and glasses with no spots or film. The best part is it is all plant based, not petroleum based.

4Worked Well - Ecology Wise - Friendly..But...Economy Wise - Not So Much  Apr 08, 2010
By L. Shirley "Laurie's Boomer Views"
I have been trying out many of the green products to see which work best and which are the best buys.I have found some pretty good stuff and some not so good in either the way the product performed or the cost of using it. Recently I reviewed a dishwasher soap:Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Gel, Lemon Scent, 45-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)and found it to to be a horrible waste of money, not to mention water and electricity as it didn't clean my dishes and I had to wash them over again(see my review of it for more details). Many reviewers had the same complaint about it. The one thing that some other reviewers commented on the soap was that besides not cleaning the dishes it also left and ugly film. This was one problem I didn't have and I have to credit that to ecover dishwasher rinse aid.

It worked amazingly well. At least the dishes came out sparkling and free of film-although with all the stuck on food from the crummy job the "green" detergent did.Since changing back to my old dishwasher soap(a generic store brand that I still had unused), I found that now they come out clean as well as sparkly and clear.

So I'm happy to report that here is one eco-friendly product that works great and you can feel good about using. The only thing that keeps me from going 5 stars is that it is not as economy friendly as it is eco-friendly. I found that I have to refill the rinse holder waaaay more often than a little container of say Jet-Dri. In order to keep seeing my dishes looking sparkly and streak free I have to fill it about every other time I run the dishwasher. The Jet-Dri seemed to last through weeks of washings.

There are several sites this product is sold here at amazon and in various quantities. So you may want to surf around by clicking on the "Ecover" link under the product heading here. You can check to see which is the best buy at the time you plan to purchase. Also it is a good idea to check with the sellers to see exactly how many bottles you are getting(at any site you buy from). The differences in the price range of the sellers(at this time) indicates to me, that they might not all be selling the same quantity.

Also - as soon as my old dishwasher soap runs out, I plan on trying some of the other "green" dishwasher soaps. If anyone has any good experiences or suggestions on those, I would love to hear them. Please let us know through the comment area on my review.

Thanks.....Laurie
