A Must-Have for Colicky Babies Jan 12, 2007
By Kasey This is number one on my list for how my husband, daughter and I have survived her months of colic! What we like about it:
- The Moby wrap was able to be used the day we brought our preemie baby home from the hospital.
- The Moby wrap swaddles your baby snuggly to you. If your baby likes swaddling as much as our does, this is the baby carrier for you.
- It spreads the weight out evenly across your back and shoulders and feels much better for longer periods of time (in comparison to our Baby Bjorn).
- There are a variety of ways to wear your baby with this carrier. We have used it 4 different ways so far. Being able to pull the cloth completely over her so she can sleep soundly is a plus. The instructions are easy to follow and while it looks difficult to put on, it really is quite simple after you've practiced it 3 or 4 times.
- The Moby wrap is easy to clean with being machine washable and dryable and there are no parts that can be broken or lost.
What we don't like about the Moby wrap:
- If you plan on wearing your baby to go grocery shopping or other things out in public, you need to put it on before you leave the house. It can be difficult to put on in the car or in places where you do not feel comfortable with the wrap touching the floor (parking lot, public floor, etc.). This is not a big deal, but important to remember before you run out the door. During the cooler months, I put the Moby on, then my coat.
Bottom-line: The Moby wrap was an excellent purchase. Putting our daughter in it and walking around or bouncing on an exercise ball was one of the few ways to calm her during the height of her colic. Our daughter is now 5-months old and still enjoys the Moby. We expect to continue to use our Moby wrap for many more months.

Great for new babies especially! Jul 24, 2007

"Devourer of all books fantasy"
I bough this wrap because my newborn wanted to be held constantly during his first couple months.
Pros: - Can accommodate a number of different types of front and back holds. - It is very comfortable to wear; as the wide fabric over the shoulder distributes the infants weight nicely. - It can really snuggle your infant in good. You can even pull the fabric over the baby's head a little to block light. - My boy would sleep in this for a couple hours at a time when he was newborn to 8 weeks old. - Washes up easily
Cons: - Takes a bit of time to get used to putting on; at first it's hard to get everything on tight enough but not too tight. - Takes too long to put on and take off. - The long length of fabric always ends up dragging on the floor as you put it on. Maybe not normally a big deal but it really sucked while camping. - Too Bulky to stick in a diaper bag. - As my baby got bigger it was too restraining for him and took too much fooling around to get him in it.
I really never used this wrap again after my baby was 12 weeks old or so. I ended up getting a Hotslings Sweet Pea Size 3 instead. This sling takes two seconds to put on, is small enough for my purse. It's not as comfortable as the Moby sling but it is wonderful for portability and works great with babies that can hold their heads up. My little boy loves to ride in the hip sling position. One disadvantage for the hotsling is that they are sized (you and your husband might need different sizes.)

My Favorite Wrap!(and my daughters) Aug 26, 2007
By J. Evans Ive had this wrap for over 2 months now and i would've gone mad without it. My daughter absolutely LOVES this. she falls asleep almost instantly when she's in it. at first i had to be walking around for her to fall asleep, but now she just goes right to sleep even if i'm just sitting down.(shes in it right now fast asleep)
some people might complain about how long and complicated it is to put on but it REALLY isnt.it takes me about 15 seconds to put on, then another 15 to get her in all nice and snug. i had a normal baby carrier that with all the buckles and such and adjustments it took WAY longer. This wrap also allows SO many different positions. when i know my daughter wants to be awake and checking things out i face her out, and vice versa facing in. so far her favorite is the hug hold and lotus hold. but theres about 8 different holds which is great because not every baby is the same and might like something else.
before purchasing this wrap i was trying to decide between this and the maya(i bought the maya about a month ago) and boy do i love the moby more! ill wear the maya around the house but it doesnt hold my daughter as secure as the moby. i ALWAYS wear the moby when i shop or go out or when my daughter is tired because she cant get comfortable and fall asleep in the maya.
OVERALL GET THE MOBY! I recommend it to EVERYONE and many people have come up to me and asked me what they heck i was wearing!

Once it's on, it's GREAT! Mar 25, 2008
By H. Marriott I am a mother to a 20-month old and a 3-month old and have tried so many slings and wraps, it's ridiculous. This is by far my favorite to date. Here are some pros and cons:
Cons: -- SOOOOO much fabric! It is difficult to handle it all and it drags on the ground (or parking lot) when you are trying to get it on. It must be at least 15 feet long. -- Scared to wash it because there is a fold in the fabric (along the long edge) and I am afraid the crease will wash out and I'll have to try to iron it back in. What a hassle that would be. -- Not worth putting on for short-term use. I would not bother if I plan to use it for 15 minutes or less.
Pros: -- Once it's on, it is so comfortable, you can hardly feel it--really! Even after an hour, I have no shoulder or back pain. At all! It's practically miraculous. I always put my baby in it to grocery shop, which takes at least an hour each time (we walk to the grocery store and back). I have both hands free to push my older daughter in her stroller and to shop and my baby just sleeps the whole time. -- It's versatile. You can use it to carry your babies in front of you, on your hip, on your back, etc. -- Both my daughters love it and can stand to be in it for a loooong time. -- It is very supportive for my baby who still needs some neck support. Her head flopped around too much in both the Snugli and the Baby Bjorn. -- If you tie the fabric off in the back, you can cover (or feel like you're covering) the bulk of your post-baby butt. -- It did not work great for nursing, but that may be my inexperience in using this type of wrap. I do use the fabric to cover up if I'm nursing in public, but have to remove it to do that.
I HIGHLY recommend this wrap. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish the pros could be accomplished with a lot less fabric.

Don't buy anything other than the Moby! You won't regret it! May 18, 2007

"Proud Mamma"
Let me just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this sling!
I bought this sling two days before a ten hour flight with a three hour layover. My daughter either slept the whole time or looked around at her surroundings. In fact, the only time she was fussy or cried was when I took her out to change her or for take off and landing. My back did not hurt at all the WHOLE time. I feel she is very secure and never worry about her slipping out as I did with my other slings.
I got the wrapping correct and memorized the very first time and haven't needed the booklet since. The second I put my daughter in it she was quiet and happy, she looked around at what I was doing until she fell asleep, like magic! While I am wearing her, I am able to do most housework and even sit at the computer.
I own the Hotsling which hurt my back just 15 min after wearing and my daughter made strange noises while in it that always make me uneasy. I also own a Baby Bjorn, but i worry about pinching her and it also hurt my back after about 30 minutes.
The only possible negative about the Moby is that you have to learn how to put it on in public without it touching the ground. I usually use a shopping cart, or a bench. Though, it is not enough of a negative for me to give it less than five stars. Also, people say that the fabric is too stretchy to securely hold their child. But, the only way I can see that happening is if you tied it too loose to begin with. If I initially wrap it correctly I do not have to readjust it at all.
I hardly ever use a stroller anymore. When I go to the supermarket I just pop her in the Moby, grab my diaper bag, and go, no stroller. In the Mall I take the stroller only to hold my bags. All in all, this has been a tremendous lifesaver for me, and because of it, my home is finally getting cleaned and back to normal, LOL.
