Simply, my quest for perfect Chai has ended Nov 17, 2006
By A. Hogan I started drinking Chai tea in 2000, having given up coffee. I needed something to replace my coffee,without the ferocious caffeine attack that begins shortly afterwards. In my search for the best chai tea, I have tried
Tazo[very good},Celestial seasonings[okay]Stash[good] Big Train[a mix, sweet}
Yogi{okay-good} Revolution Bombay Chai[very good]Alto eco ceylon Chai{very Good} Kashmiri Chai[very Good}Tetley{surprisingly good} looose Chai from Stash[good} Fresh Direct[very good] Tazo{very Good] and local tea sellers. NUMI TEA GOLDEN CHAI IS THE BEST I HAVE TASTED. Not too spicey,it hold the tea flavor both with milk and soy milk,plain and with sugar[and splenda] It is spicey not biting, strong not overpowering. Simply excellent! And organic to boot!

a little disappointing . . . Oct 29, 2007

I ordered this tea in search of a good chai in a tea bag. (My favorite is Harney & Sons "Indian Spice" but it is a loose tea, pretty expensive, they make tea bags, too, but they are even more expensive.) So I was on a mission to find a really good chai, with less mess. The spice in this chai is great, tastes very good, but it is lacking tea flavor and body, if I put too much milk in it, it over powers the tea altogether. It just seems watery to me, maybe I'll try 2 tea bags per cup. I really relied on the reviews above and the worst part is I bought the 6-pack and now I have all this tea I really don't care for.
Mellow, subtle, complex, warm Aug 09, 2010

While Numi's Ruby Chai has an overtone of mixed ginger and cloves, their Golden Chai makes the notes of cardamom and cinnamon more obvious. The two teas are surprisingly different, despite the fact that they both share a certain warmth and coziness. The assam tea that serves as a base for the Golden is a mellow, mild black, giving the tea its golden color and light flavor. You end up with a mellow, subtle, warm, complex blend that holds your tastebuds' attention while it warms, relaxes and refreshes you.
Authentic, delicious chai flavor May 27, 2010

I love chai (unsweetened) & usually sprinkly the spices in a standard black tea. However, I've tried other chai formulations so I can get the chai flavor quickly. I tried the Numi Golden Chai for the first time a couple months ago at a small coffee shop near the Indiana University campus & liked it so much that I asked if they sold boxes of the tea bags. I quickly finished the bag of tea in a couple weeks, but live two hours away & wouldn't make a trip to IU to buy the tea. The next best thing was to search for it on the Internet. I found several places, but ordered the multiple boxes from Amazon because the price with free shipping made the overall cost less than other vendors. The tea is the same delicious blend that I can now enjoy for a few more months before I have to re-order my new favorite tea bag formulation!
Decent but not for me Aug 27, 2009

My opinion is that it's a very weak chai. Hardly spicy! Everyone has different tastes. I prefer to make my own so that it has some heat to it. Contrary to what another reviewer said, it doesn't take hours or cost a lot more. It cost about the same as one box to buy all of the spices. It takes just a couple of minutes to make yourself.
