3Seems like a good idea, but has problems.  Jul 30, 2007
By Rebekah L. Johnson
I have purchased two method O mops. I am a huge method fan and I use all of their cleaning products. So when I got an email about a mop coming out I ran to my local Target and bought one. I used it for two weeks, when the handle of the mop just snapped off. I wrote method an email letting them know what happened, with photos, and they sent me $25 in coupons. I bought another O mop and within a month the same thing happened. Obviously there is some kind of defect in the design of the handle. It's pretty flimsy plastic and can just snap right off.

There are some big pros to the mop though. Obviously reusable mopping pads that wash out great and do a good job mopping. The floor cleaning solutions smell so yummy and clean fantastic with no residue left behind. The sweeping cloths are made from a renewable resource (corn) and are biodegradable and can even be composted. If you are looking for an environmentally friendly way to clean, it's the way to go. Plus it's non toxic and all natural so you can use it with pets and kids with no worries. I cannot say enough times how good this stuff smells either.

However, that handle snapping off problem is keeping me from buying another one. $50 spent is enough, thanks.

Method, work on the design because overall you have a winner!

4...a different method  Jan 03, 2008
By P. Sheehan "Che Pablo"
Overall, the mop accomplishes most of what the designers set out to do. The mop cleans well, is more ergonomic than a standard straight-handled mop, and is environmentally friendly. Since I compost, I especially like the corn-based dusting clothes.

That said, I think you may be better off _not_ using the cleaner. I find cleaning much easier if, before mopping, you mist the floor with just water. (Perhaps you could mist the cleaner.) Give the water a minute to dissolve the dirt, then mop. The power of the microfiber fabric is in its absorption and not scrubbing, so what you want to do is soak up the loosened dirt. The water also lubricates the passage of the mop, so it takes very little effort. Note that, if you have hardened globs of food on the floor, you will have to scrape them off. Yet, that was also the case with the Hoover Floormate (Hoover H3044 FloorMate SpinScrub WidePath Hard Floor Cleaner) despite the whirling brushes and deafening sound. I use the fake credit cards that arrive with credit card solicitations for scrapping.

Why not 5 stars? While cheaper than other microfiber mops, it remains a bit expensive. Also, I think the prose in the instructions could have been more explanatory. Instead of tips on the best way to clean, it yammers on about loving your floors and--I am not making this up--the correct posture for when you eat off them. Yeesh, I've got mopping to do.

2Love the cleaning solutions, hate the mop itself  Aug 03, 2008
By navyblue
I too have owned two omops at this point. The first, I was delighted to use for a couple of months before the oval handle snapped off. I e-mailed the company, and was also sent coupons. I was told they had fixed the problem with the mop handle, and purchased a second kit. (It seems impossible to simply replace a mop on its own without buying a whole new kit).

My second mop broke in an even shorter time. The oval handle, once again snapping off with normal use. I e-mailed the company again, and was thanked for my feedback. I'm not complaining that they didn't send more coupons, I wasn't about to buy the mop again until I knew it would hold up.

An additional complaint: the mop is too short, but I am tall at 5'10". It would be nice if it were possible to add additional length as an option.

If the mop had not broken, I'd still be using it, even though they are too short for me. I like the easy on, easy off washable microfiber pads and I love what the all floor solution (yellow) does for my tile. I really like the wood floor solution for my bamboo floors, it leaves a beautiful shine that lasts.

I am now using the cleaning solutions with a Real Simple brand mop from Target that is taller, and has not broken, but has issues with the floor pad area.

Please fix this design flaw, Method and I'll be glad to give it another try.

3it's not perfect  Feb 13, 2009
By lee
I am on my second method mop, and yes, that handle snaps right off at the base of the white ring. i just ignored it anyway, it wasn't at all important to me. what really annoys me is the three strips of velcro like adhesive on the head of the mop. they are placed in such a way that the single strip down the center fails to keep the fabric of the microfiber from bunching up. my solution was to knit my own cover that wraps around the mop head completely, so that the fabric is kept in place, and the mop is more effective when getting into corners and under the overhangs of cabinets and such. i don't mind modifying the things i buy, but i could see that as being a deal-breaker for folks who have higher standards than me, heh heh. still, after having used many different mops, this is my favourite.

4So far so good!  Jan 10, 2011
By Jerica Sifuentes
I've been using the Omop for a few months now, and it has been very good so far. I have vinyl "wood plank" flooring, and a dog that sheds a lot, so I mainly use the microfiber duster to collect her hair and vacuum it up. I don't really use the disposable cloths very much b/c the microfiber is easy to use and I just toss it in the washer to get clean. If I do use the disposable cloths, I just toss them in my compost bin, so easy! The floor wash it came with smells very nice and leaves a nice shine on the floor, without any tackiness. This is an excellent, green alternative to the Swiffer, and it looks cool too!
